Approximately twelve million Americans suffer from true food allergies and many others have symptoms that they attribute to food related allergies. When the immune system identifies a food item as a harmful substance antibodies are created to protect the body from this substance entering the body again. Unfortunately, that means the immune system is going to release histamines to protect the body whenever this substance is again introduced to the body. This triggers allergy symptoms that can include the skin along with respiratory, gastrointestinal and cardiovascular systems.

Food intolerance and an allergic reaction to certain foods are not the same thing. A food intolerance, such as lactose intolerance, can cause unwanted symptoms as the body is unable to process the food properly. This doesn’t include a reaction of the immune system so it is not an allergy. Food intolerances usually end up causing diarrhea, stomach cramps, gas and abdominal discomfort. These cause asthmatic reactions, swelling and hives as the body reacts to the substance it has decided is has discovered.

Symptoms of a true food allergy include a tingling sensation in the mouth and swelling of the tongue and throat, hives, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal cramps. More serious allergic reactions can include lowered blood pressure, breathing difficulties loss of consciousness, and death. Allergic reactions can start within minutes of ingesting the substance that the body as identified a problem to two hours after the food has been eaten.

There are no cures for these allergies. Most allergic reactions are outgrown with the exception of tree nuts, peanuts, fish and shellfish. Some food sensitivities can start up after years of being able to eat that same food item. If you have an allergy to a certain food; to avoid an allergic reaction is to avoid that food. This means you will have to read labels if you are eating prepackaged foods to insure you don’t end up accidentally eating the reaction causing food.

When a new allergy is acquired it is not always easy to figure out which food is causing the reaction. Keeping track of what you eat at each meal and how your body reacted for a couple weeks will help you to narrow down the food causing the reaction.

Taking away the most common causes of food allergies before other foods is a good way to start. Allergies to wheat and dairy are common so taking one of these out of your diet to see if the symptoms disappear is a good place to start. If the first one didn’t make any changes then return it to your diet and try something else.

Removing too many foods from your diet can cause your diet to be unbalanced. When dealing with allergies, nutrition is also important. If you have an allergy to a food item that has been a big part of your diet you don’t remove it without replacing the nutrients with another source. Discussing your allergies with your physician and deciding how to adjust your diet so that you aren’t causing a deficiency in one area is helpful.

If you do end up accidentally eating a food you are allergic to and have a reaction then an antihistamine is a good first step. If you have a severe allergic reaction from a food allergy you need to seek medical assistance. People who are prone to severe allergic reactions often carry epinephrine (adrenaline). Epinephrine this comes in the form of a shot, to give the boost of adrenaline immediately.

Allergies Type 1 is also called contact allergy. It is is when food, mold, animal dander, pollen, or dust can cause an immediate allergy attack. Whey your body responds to the invasion, your body releases histamine from the irritated area such as the skin, nasal and bronchial areas.

A person with Allergies Type 1 is burdened with an overprotective immune system and is forever on guard against everyday things that don’t bother the rest of us. It might be a cute puppy, a patch of green grass, to something as simple as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

The hypersensitivity allergic reaction to type 1 allergies can vary fjrom mild irritation to sudden death from anaphylactic shock. Any sympton that causes swelling of the toungh or difficulity in breathing requires imeadate treatment by a physicial.

Mild cases of Allergies Type 1 can be treated with common products such as Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Pantothenic Acid, Glucosamine, Antioxidants, Allergy Aid, and Quercitin.

Vitamin A is a known antioxidant and can assist the human body in the healing process. Vitamin A is stored in the liver and fat cells of the human body and can reach toxic levels. DO NOT take more than the recommended dosage of Vitamin A.

Up to one-third of older people can no longer absorb Vitamin B from their food. Vitamin B is needed to form red blood cells and keep nerves healthy.

Vitamin C is nature’s protective nutrient, essential for defending the body against pollution and infection and enhances the bodies immune system.

Beta Carotene protects the mucus membranes of the mouth, nose, throat and lungs. It also helps protect Vitamin C from oxidation, which enables it to perform at optimum efficiency.

Vitamin E protects the lung tissue from inhaled pollutants and aids in the functioning of the immune system.

Many find Pantothenic Acid to be very helpful against allergy symptoms. It is another form of nontoxic B vitamins. Pantothenic Acid is critical in the metabolism and synthesis of carbohydrates, proteins and fats.

Glucosamine is an anti-inflammatory and may give some relief from allergy symptoms.

Substances called antioxidants can neutralize free radical by pairing up or binding with the free radical elections thus inhibiting them from damaging cells in the human body.

Allergy Aid supplies 9 beneficial Herb’s to help provide temporary relief of respiratory allergies. The natural action of these specific Herb’s help to open bronchial tubes and ease breathing.

Quercitin is a well known flavonoid. Flavonoids are powerful antioxidants and can reduce inflammation boost the immune system and strengthen blood vessels and improve circulation. Quercitin is also known for its ability to block the release of histamines, thus reducing or preventing allergy symptoms.

Always consult your doctor before using this information.

This Article is nutritional in nature and is not to be construed as medical advice.

Recent statistics show that as much as twenty percent of the United States population – one in every five people – suffers from some kind of allergy. That’s tens of millions each year dealing with a broad spectrum of allergies, including everything from common pollen and animal fur to various kinds of foods and even some smells.

Though seldom pleasant, allergic reactions are the body’s ways of defending against attacks it perceives as harmful. Controlling allergy symptoms is largely a process of short-circuiting the body’s natural reactions to allergens in the environment.

How allergy attacks work

Allergies are a disorder of the immune system, considered a form of Type I Hypersensitivity in the body. Following the ingestion or the inhalation of an allergen, the body produces an antibody called Immunoglobulin E (or IgE) that activate certain kinds of white blood cells – the body’s most common form of immune system defense. These white blood cells, called mast cells and basophils, release the chemicals histamine and heparin as the allergen particles bind with the IgE.

Histamine is the cause of most perceived allergy symptoms, including sneezing and runny eyes. Blocking or reducing its presence in the body with anti-histamine medication is probably the most prevalent form of allergy treatment.

Three levels of allergies.

Allergies are typically classified according to three levels of severity. Mild reactions are generally limited to one area of the body. Moderate reactions are more acute, spreading to other parts of the body as the allergy attack progresses.

Severe allergic reactions occur when the body produces so much histamine and other allergy mediators in so short a time that the patient undergoes a dramatic drop in blood pressure. This condition, known as anaphylactic shock, can cause death in minutes if not treated. Researchers believe that sixteen percent of United States residents are in dangerous of anaphylactic shock, though such incidents result in less than 1,000 deaths each year.

Anaphylactic shock typically presents itself as a moderate allergy attack but then quickly develops into more painful symptoms such as difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, and dizziness. Mental confusion and lightheadedness are also possible as the brain struggles to deal with the drop in blood pressure.

Atopic reactions

Allergic responses typically happen where the body encounters them – pollen produces sneezing, and so forth. Allergies also sometimes produce an atopic reaction, meaning the appear in areas besides where the body encountered the allergen (for example, breathing pollen making someone break out in hives.) Atopic reactions are strongly hereditary and may come from an overproduction of IgE within the bloodstream.

There are some people who are fond of eating duck meat. Duck meat can be turned into several delectable delicacies and there are a rising number of countries around the world that are somehow turning into consuming such meat.

Admit it or not, though duck dishes are not as popular as their chicken, lamb or beef counterparts, many people prefer them because of the somehow good and appetizing aroma and the satisfying aftertaste that comes with it.

Chefs and food critics also claim that duck meats are undoubtedly more meaty than chicken, and flavors tend to stick more into duck meat than into any other form of animal meat.

Whatever argument you are taking regarding duck meat, you still can not change the fact that ducks meats are becoming popular, be it on exotic or regular menus.

Duck allergy

There are some setbacks, however, to eating duck meat. Because duck belongs to the family of chicken and turkey, there a number of people who have duck allergy.

People with duck allergy may or may not know about the condition until they have eaten duck meat and symptoms of duck allergy begin to manifest.

Because people eating duck is relatively and comparatively few in number compared to vegetarians and people consuming pork, beef, lamb and chicken, statistics show that there are only a few recorded and reported cases of duck allergy.

There are other people who have duck allergy and also develop allergy to duck eggs. Just like in the case for chicken allergy, some duck allergic people do not exhibit symptoms to duck egg allergy.

Symptoms of duck allergy

Symptoms of duck allergy are somehow similar to symptoms of chicken allergy.

Duck allergy attacks are characterized by asthma attacks, eczema, unusual fatigue, insomnia, depression and chronic disturbance of the gastrointestinal system.

Unusual symptoms of duck allergy may also appear like bed-wetting and infections particularly in the bladder and in the ears. Migraine coming along with other symptoms may also be expected.

Sinusitis can also observed in people with duck allergy especially during duck allergy attacks.

Be aware that the manifestations of duck allergy attacks may occur and show up hours or even about one to days after taking in or eating duck meat.

Treating and preventing duck allergy

As usual, antihistamines are prescribed to people exhibiting apparent indications or manifestations of duck meat allergy. It is important to note, however, that antihistamines should not be taken without proper prescription as it may lead to over dosage and other serious medical conditions.

Antihistamines contain substances and anti-allergic enzymes that can pose adverse and irreversible side effects to people who take inappropriate dosages.

People with duck allergy, above all things, should also eliminate duck meat in their daily diet. Duck allergic people should do so immediately if the symptoms of duck allergy are already exhibiting or showing up. Doing so would certainly stop the prevalence or occurrence of such manifestations.

To avoid the onset of duck allergy, it is also imperative that people with duck allergy permanently and religiously eliminate duck meat in their diet. The reason behind is very logical and practical, don’t you think?

Donald Duck is so cute, and you may probably have loved him one time or another during your growing up years. But ducks around can never be always fun, especially when you want to eat them and you have duck allergy.

—————————————-

Note: This article may be freely reproduced as long as the AUTHOR’S resource box at the bottom of this article is included and and all links must be Active/Linkable with no syntax changes.

—————————————–
