If fibroids do occur, they most often are fibroid tumors in the uterus. While these usually remain tiny and cause you to have no symptoms, they can become larger. Estrogen can cause these tumors to grow and interfere with your daily life.
Symptoms
Fibroid tumors in the uterus can cause you to have a variety of symptoms, but there are two main ones. The first is heavy menstrual bleeding. Please note that this is heavy bleeding for your cycle, NOT bleeding in between your cycles. The heavy bleeding can lead to anemia and fatigue in some women.
The second symptom for fibroid tumors in the uterus is abdominal pressure. This could be as mild as just the feeling of pelvic pressure and abdominal bloating. If the fibroids become larger, this could also include frequent trips to the washroom to urinate, constipation, abdominal pain. If any of these symptoms become severe or if your fibroids grow rapidly, you may need to consider treatment options. In very severe cases your only option may be surgery.
